Biography

Cédric Brion (born in 1978, Belgium) is an independent photographic artist based in Mons. Drawn to the visual arts from a young age, he discovered photography at eighteen. He started with a film camera, entirely self-taught, developing his images in the darkness of his own room and patiently learning light, composition and printing through experiment and constant curiosity. Over the years this passion became a true artistic language. Competitions, collaborations and professional projects helped him refine his vision and develop a personal visual signature. Today Cédric Brion creates photographic works that go beyond representing reality. Through artistic portraits, conceptual compositions and worlds steeped in mystery, he explores emotions, atmospheres and the symbolic side of the image. Inspired by the contrast between light and darkness, presence and absence, he seeks to stir emotion, reflection and the viewer’s imagination. His photographs have been exhibited and awarded in international competitions and are held in private collections. With every work he pursues the same aim: to turn the image into a lasting visual and emotional experience.
Motivation and vision
Through portrait and landscape photography, I explore the emotions, vulnerabilities, atmospheres and unseen sides of the world around us. My work does not simply depict a person or a place as they appear, but tries to reveal what they may suggest, conceal or symbolically evoke.
Inspired by dark worlds, surrealism and visual stories steeped in mystery, I create images where reality blends with the imagination. In my landscapes, light, mist, water, rocks and forests become a visual language that carries an emotion.
Portraits or landscapes, my photographs are above all fragments of emotion and doors opening onto the imagination.
